WH cannot confirm reports on Pyongyang’s release of three Americans

WASHINGTON, The White House said Thursday that it cannot confirm reports on North Korea’s release of three American citizens.

White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders told reporters “we can’t confirm the validity of any of the reports currently out about their release.” She added “but we certainly would see this as a sign of goodwill, if North Korea were to release the three Americans ahead of discussions between President Trump and (North Korea’s leader) Kim Jong-un.” Meanwhile, President Donald Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani said on Fox News earlier today “we got Kim Jong Un impressed enough to be releasing three prisoners today.” On Wednesday evening, Trump tweeted “as everybody is aware, the past Administration has long been asking for three hostages to be released from a North Korean Labor camp, but to no avail. Stay tuned!”.
