CMAS World Freediving Indoor Championship involving men and women athletes will launch Monday with divers from 44 nations partaking.
The opening ceremony, due to be held at Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed’s aquatic indoor facility, will be attended by a number of officials from various ministries and administrations. The championship, one of the largest sports tournament of its kind, would be organized at Al-Nasr SC Complex.
In a statement to KUNA, President of the Kuwaiti Diving Rescue Club Talal Al-Sarhan said the hosting of the championship is considered among the largest of its scale, as the organizing committee is looking forward to the outcomes.
While pointing out that a tournament with 350 participants is not an easy task, requiring double efforts to avoid any mistakes with a successful outcome, Al-Sarhan appreciated Minister of Youth Affairs Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi’s encouragement, support by the Kuwait Olympic Committee and its Chairman of the Board of Directors Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah along with Director General of the Public Authority for Sports Youssef Al-Baidan to make it an efficacious tournament. The event will be taking place from the 7th of may until the 13th, with 350 divers partaking. A number of the countries’ ambassadors will be attending along with President of the Arab and Egyptian Federation for Diving and Rescue Captain Sameh Al-Shazly.
