– UN Secretary-General Representative and Resident Coordinator in Kuwait, Dr. Tareq Al-Sheikh, stressed the importance of Kuwaiti initiatives to raise the awareness of food waste management.<\/p>\n
In a press statement Wednesday, on the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, Al-Sheikh said that various public and private sectors and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Kuwait highlight their experiences in this regard and suggested solutions regarding food waste.<\/p>\n
He also noted that these measures have a very significant impact, while Kuwait’s efforts were evident through a series of national dialogues in cooperation with the public and private sectors and youth groups, who invest in improving the supply of the food chain, leading to their participation in the UN Food Systems Summit 2021.<\/p>\n
Kuwaiti farmers grow their own organic vegetables throughout the year, establishing agricultural studies in which they expect the size of their crops, and this act falls at the 12th sustainable development goal (consumption and production) and the responsibility for sustainability for future generations in accordance with the global sustainable development goals, he added.<\/p>\n
Moreover, he said that this occasion is an opportunity to invite everyone to prioritize actions and move forward with innovations to reduce food loss and waste towards restoring and building better and more resilient food systems<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
