The British Embassy in Kuwait commemorated on Sunday its soldiers who lost their lives while defending their country in the first and second World Wars, peacekeeping missions, Kuwait’s liberation, and wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.<\/P>
The British government is keen on commemorating those who fought and sacrificed for Britain, in recognition of the key role of them and their families, British Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis told KUNA during an event attended by representative of Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.<\/P>
The event aims neither to immortalize wars nor victories but to remember human losses due to the armed clashes, she added.<\/P>
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah’s representative Sheikh Sabah Mohammad Sabah Al-Sabah said “we shared this commemoration with our British friends, in honor of the victims of the armed conflicts”. “We have been enjoying deep-rooted friendly relations with Britain for 120 years,” he added, expressing appreciation and gratitude to the British government and people for their role in liberating Kuwait.<\/P>
He commended the heroism of British soldiers who lost their lives while liberating Kuwait from the brutal invasion.<\/P>
The ceremony featured a number of ambassadors, and heads of foreign diplomatic and military missions<\/P>
