– Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has launched a relief initiative in Afghanistan, purposed to meet the humanitarian and hygiene needs of women, elderly, orphans and the population in inaccessible areas.<\/p>\n
The humanitarian initiative, which was jointly carried out by the KRCS and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), has benefitted as many as 31,500 people who had hard humanitarian conditions in Afghanistan, KRCS’ Secretary-General Maha Al-Barjas said to KUNA.<\/p>\n
The effort was primarily intended to boost displaced families’ resilience, revamp their hygiene and humanitarian conditions and provide them with food staples, she added.<\/p>\n
Afghanistan is teetering on the brink of a tragic humanitarian situation involving food shortage, bad weather conditions and lingering insecurity, she said, noting that 11 million people are embroiled in food insecurity.<\/p>\n
The fact that the initiative was jointly launched by both Kuwaiti and Qatari Red Crescent societies pinpoint that coordination among Gulf charities is essential to fieldwork, she pointed out.<\/p>\n
The KRCS’ response to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan mirrors its universal message to ease out the anguish of people and safeguard human dignity, she boasted. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
