{"id":69838,"date":"2022-07-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-07-07T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kuwaitnewsgazette.com\/?guid=22e16804ed266b533bd7e65b2501f04e"},"modified":"2022-07-07T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-07-07T00:00:00","slug":"gcc-states-prepared-to-manage-any-radioactive-eventuality-kuwaiti-expert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kuwaitnewsgazette.com\/gcc-states-prepared-to-manage-any-radioactive-eventuality-kuwaiti-expert\/","title":{"rendered":"GCC states prepared to manage any radioactive eventuality &#8211; Kuwaiti expert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8212; Acting Director General of Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) said Thursday Kuwait works in close liaison with other member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to respond to any nuclear eventuality.<\/p>\n<p>The GCC states are working on a regional network to detect the levels of radioactivity, Dr. Mani&#8217;e Al-Sedirawi said in a speech to the high-level meeting of the Arab experts to launching a pan-Arab infrastructure for detecting radioactivity.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting is being held under auspices of Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Abul-Gheit.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Al-Sedirawi, who leads Kuwait delegation to the meeting, noted that an early-warning system on radioactivity is being developed to help decision-makers respond timely to any eventuality.<\/p>\n<p>Kuwait has also been working with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) since 1998 and both sides launched an observatory (RN-40) to detect any radioactive pollution in the air, he went on. KISR works with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to build the capacity of national cadres in the technical areas related to the nuclear energy, he said, noting that this cooperation bear the fruit in launching several regional projects to gauge radioactivity in the west Asia region.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Al-Sedirawi appreciated the efforts of the Arab League, the Arab Atomic Energy Agency (AAEA) and the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA) to convene the current meeting on the Arab network for detecting radioactive pollution<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Source: Kuwait News Agency<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8212;
