– The issues pertaining to the youth and their ambitions had been a focus for candidates running in the 2022 National Assembly elections scheduled on September 29.
\nAccording to government estimates, youth represented 72 percent of Kuwaiti society; therefore, candidates would be very keen to attract their votes to reach the National Assembly.
\nYouth usually experience the political process during university where elections there shaped their outlook for the future.
\nSpeaking on the issue, official spokesman for the Public Authority of Youth (PAY) Mohammad Al-Alloush said that the youth could be the driving force for this current elections due to their passion and eagerness for a better future.
\nKuwaiti society is mostly compromised of youth and their concern for the future is the concern for the whole country, he reiterated.
\nThe authority had launched a public committee to volunteer for elections, revealed Al-Alloush, adding that this reflected PAY’s keenness on youth involvement in the democratic process.
\nOn his part, Chairman of the executive Council for Arab Youth and Secretary of the Board for the Kuwaiti Public Relations Society Mohammad Al-Yaseen said that the youth nowadays were looking beyond slogans and rhetoric, they want actual efforts to root out corruption and steer the wheel towards overall development.
\nThe youth want to actualize the new Kuwait vision with all its tenets, brining accountability and future development to the forefront of discussions, he added.
\nAl-Yaseen indicated that youth fear that candidates would make a “U-turn” on their vows during elections campaign and therefore, they took matters into their own hands submitting their candidacy in droves.
\nMeanwhile, head of international cooperation in the Kuwaiti youth council Abdulrahman Al-Saeedi said that candidates were directing their speech towards the youth knowing that they were a force to be reckoned with during elections.
\nHe claimed that youth did not have the capital to embark on the candidacy journey; however, they were willing to vouch for the candidate who represented them at parliament.
\nAl-Saeedi stressed that cultivating youths’ talents and encouraging them to take part in the democratic process was key in bringing dreams of development and progress to Kuwait<\/p>\n
