– The State of Kuwait, during its participation in the 51st session of the UN Human Rights Council, has affirmed necessity of adopting stances based on the international laws and balanced policies.
\nThe Kuwaiti delegation during the session followed up closely on the deliberations that had lasted for four weeks, contributing effectively to the tasks of political and regional groups, said Ambassador Nasser Al-Hayen, the State of Kuwait Permanent Delegate at the UN and International Organizations.
\nIn a statement to KUNA after the session conclusion, Ambassador Al-Hayen indicated that the Kuwaiti diplomats, in coordination with their GCC peers, prepared data regarding diverse issues that had been put on the table, and addressed the conferees about status of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Syria and Yemen.
\nThe council decided to extend mandate of the rapporteurs concerned with rights of the elderly, nations’ right to achieve development and have access to drinkable water. Moreover, he underscored significance of the international educational program in human rights, journalists’ safety, protecting the global democratic order, the rule of laws and supporting youth rights.
\nHe praised the council approval of a recommendation calling for boosting governments’ capacities to integrate human rights in all their tasks and limiting breaches of these rights.
\nIn conclusion, he underlined Kuwait’s balanced policies in support of peace and peaceful settlements as a sole means for resolving strifes worldwide.<\/p>\n
