Iraqi Oil Minister Hayyan Abdulghani on Friday said the nation’s crude oil reserves have grown by ten billion barrels and the gas reserves by eight trillion cubic feet.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The minister was speaking on sidelines of inaugurating a new project within Majnoun field in southern governorate of Basra, according to a statement released by the ministry of oil.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Abdulghani said these amounts of the fossil fuel have been added to the reserves after an agreement between the Iraqi Oil Exploration Company and Majoun field administration to conduct a 3-d survey of the locations Hartha, Al-Zubair and Mishref.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
He inaugurated the project of water injection at Majnoun field at a capacity of 80,000 barrels per day. River water is employed for injection at four main reservoirs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The minister has also laid the corner stone for the second gas separation station in the same field at a capacity of 120,000 barrels per day.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Iraq boasts the world’s fourth largest oil reserve estimated at more than 145 billion barrels.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
