Yemeni PM thanks Saudi Arabia for their generous assistance to Yemen

— Yemeni Prime Minister Mueen Abdulmalek has thanked Saudi Arabia and its leadership for their generous assistance to Yemen and its people, during the war sparked by the Houthi militia.

Abdulmalik made the statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), late Saturday, coinciding with the arrival of first Saudi oil grant worth about USD 422 million to support the electricity sector, to the pier of the Aden Refineries Company.

The first batch of the grant presented through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen will provide fuel to power plants, which would reduce power cut and improve electricity service, he said.

The grant will have positive effects on the economic side, improving the value of the local currency and easing the financial burden on the government, he added.

This Saudi grant came as a result of the government’s efforts to serve it people in light of difficult economic conditions caused by the conflict triggered by Houthis, Abdulmalek said.
