A security force from Diyala police arrested 12 people of Syrian nationality coming from the Kurdistan region without official papers.

Colonel Haitham Al-Shammari, the media spokesman for Diyala Police Command, told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that “a security force from the Department of Checkpoints and External Roads in Diyala Police, based on intelligence information, arrested 12 Syrians coming from the Kurdistan region at a security checkpoint in northern Baquba, wanted to enter Iraq illegally.

He added that legal measures were taken against the detainees to bring them to justice.
