300 top shooters set to partake in His Highness Crown Prince tourney

— Up to 300 renowned shooters are scheduled to partake in His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mihsal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Annual Shooting Tournament due to kick off on Thursday.

The participating shooters will represent Kuwait and a number of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in the three-day championship.

Issa Bu Taiban, Treasurer at Kuwait Shooting Club, organizer of the competition, said in a press statement on Tuesday that the club put all its resources at disposal of securing success of the tournament.

The grand championship that marks inauguration of the club sports season (2021-2020) will witness contests in pistol, rifle, trap, skeet, archery and arrow, involving male and female adults and juniors, Bu Taiban said.

Currenty, the club premises have been hosting a number of the contenders training in preparation for the highly prestigious sports event.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) will witness launch of official training courses for the participating athletes, including women shooters set to contend in skeet, trap, pistol and 10-m air rifle, in addition to launching the preliminary contests for men champions in pistol and the 10-m air rifle.

Other competitions will be held as scheduled until end of the tournament on Saturday, he added.

Bu Taiban expressed deep gratitude to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal for his endless support for the national sports, namely the shooting game.

Meanwhile, the head of the archery and arrows section at the club, Fahad Al-Rashidi, said in a statement that the steering committee organized a competition for the juniors in the archery category ahead of the official inauguration of the tournament at the club shooting range in the district of Al-Jahraa to give a chance to the largest number possible of contestants.

Mohammad Madi came as the top winner, followed by Mohammad Al-Mutairi, while Karim Al-Saeed ranked third — all members of the club
