Accreditation vital to ensure products quality – Kuwait Commerce Min.

Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development Fahad Al-Shurayaan affirmed the importance of evaluation from the The GCC Accreditation Center (GAC) to ensure the quality of local and regional products.

The minister made the remarks in his speech during a ceremony to present GAC certificates for six local companies in the headquarters of the Public Authority for Industry on Wednesday.

The accreditation certificate guarantees the qualification of inspection bodies, as well as bodies tasked with providing certificates for products, he said.

On his part, acting president of the authority Mohammad Al-Adwani noted that the authority had facilitated procedures to allow the entry of goods to Kuwait, through the use of “Tabiq” application. The application allows importers to present their documents online and receive permit for their goods in the same day.

The GCC Accreditation Center was established in 2013 with a legal authority to provide specified accreditation services within the territories of all of member states in the fields of calibration, measurement, testing, inspection and certification, known generically as conformity assessment.
