AFCON-2023/Morocco vs DRC: CAF Appeal Committee Overturns Walid Regragui’s Suspension

The Appeal Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to overturn the four-match suspension, two of which were suspended, of national coach Walid Regragui, following the scuffles that took place after the Morocco-RD Congo game (1-1), part of the 2nd day of the group F phase of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON- 2023).

“The CAF Appeal Committee also cancelled the fine previously imposed on the national coach. It took this decision after hearing the pleadings of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF)”, says the Federation on its website.

Last Wednesday, the CAF Disciplinary Committee decided to suspend Walid Regragui for four matches, two of which were suspended. Regragui had watched the Morocco/Zambia match from the stands of the Laurent Pokou stadium in San Pedro.

In the last 16 of the AFCON, the Moroccan national team will play against its South African counterpart next Tuesday (9:00 pm) at the Laurent Pokou stadium.
