Al-Araji Discusses With The Secretary Of The Iranian Supreme National Security Council The Security Agreement And Regional And International Developments

The National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, met with the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Brigadier General Ali Akbar Ahmadian, and discussed with him bilateral issues, especially the implementation of the recent security agreement between the two countries and the most important regional and international developments.

Ahmadian referred, according to the Iranian Fars News Agency, to “the long common religious and cultural roots between the two countries,” considering Iraq “a guarantee of deep and broad bilateral relations.”

He stressed: “The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been to support the Iraqi government on the basis of the will of the Iraqi people,” explaining that “the mixing of the blood of the martyrs of the two countries, especially the great leaders such as Hajj Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, is an affirmation of the reality of cohesion in the face of injustice, terrorism and insecurity.”

Ahmadian described the recent security agreement, which came as a result of months of dialogue and joint efforts of the relevant institutions in the two countries, as “a very appropriate and strategic measure,” and stressed the “firm implementation of its provisions.”

In turn, National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji affirmed, “The government and the national security institution in Iraq are determined and ready to cooperate and interact with the Islamic Republic of Iran, as in the past, by maintaining close and continuous communication in all fields.”

Al-Araji stressed: “The security of Iraq is part of the security of Iran, and the security of Iran is part of the security of Iraq.”

He pointed to the importance of speeding up the implementation of the bilateral agreements concluded, especially in the economic and security fields, and declared Iraq’s commitment to the agreement that was recently signed between the two countries.
