Baghdad -The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, stressed today, Thursday, the importance of strengthening cooperation with the UN mission in various fields.

The media office of the head of the State of Law coalition stated, in a statement, that “Al-Maliki received, in his office, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the head of the independent strategic review team of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, Volker Peretz.”

It explained that, during the meeting, existing cooperation with the United Nations Mission (UNAMI) in Iraq was discussed.

The head of the State of Law coalition pointed out, “The importance of strengthening cooperation with the UN mission in accordance with the approved contexts, and that cooperation is not limited only to the political aspect, but rather in various fields, including the economic and social aspects.”

For his part, Volker Peretz praised the progress achieved by Iraq in terms of relations with the international community and the work to bring views closer between the countries of the region, expressing the UNAMI’s readiness to cooperate with the Iraqi government in various fields.
