Arab Labor Org.: Gov’t, businessmen, workers must seek development, dialogue

– Governments, businessmen, workers must seek development and mutual dialogue to boost the region’s economies and safeguard laborers rights, said a top Arab Labor Organization (ALO) official on Sunday.

On sideline of the ALO forum, held on December 25-26, the organization’s Director General Fayez Al-Mutairi revealed that the ALO was embarking on its annual report concerning laborers and their issues.

He noted that the ALO, celebrating its 55th anniversary, would be collaborating with several entities in the region to establish a fund for the unemployed on the Arab level.

On his part, Kuwait Trade Union Federation (KTUF) chairman Ahmad Al-Enizi indicated that the forum had touched on the formation of a GCC labor union to be headed by Saudi Arabia, setting a committee to deliver this goal.

The KTUF had and will continue to exchange expertize with other labor entities, he affirmed, adding that for instance, the Kuwaiti federation was very keen on benefiting from the Saudi experience in forming a laborers court.

He noted that the KTUF was eager to increasing cooperation with business owners to increase productivity as well as safeguarding the rights of laborers.

On the sideline of the forum, the Saudi national committee for laborers and the ALO signed a cooperation agreement to exchange expertize in with labor.
