Arab League denounces Israeli aggressions on Palestinian sports facilities

The Arab League on Thursday strongly condemned recent attacks launched by Israeli occupation authorities on Palestinian sports infrastructure facilities.

This came in a press statement made by Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Said Abu Ali in the aftermath of an Israeli attack on a sports facility in northern Jerusalem.

He denounced the brutal aggression of Israeli occupation forces on a sports facility during a football game, injuring a number of fans and foreign diplomats who were unlucky to have been present during the match.

Meanwhile, the Arab official called on the world’s football watchdog (FIFA) to intervene effectively to ensure the right of the Palestinian people to practice various sports since Palestine is a FIFA member.

He reiterated the Cairo-based Arab bloc’s support for the struggle and steadfastness of the Palestinian people in face of the Israeli occupation.

Israeli occupation forces had stormed into the Palestinian Football League Cup final between Jabal Al-Mukaber and Balata FC at the Faisal Al Husseini International stadium near Jerusalem and launched tear gas attacks. Many players and fans had suffered from gas inhalation.
