Arab League stresses Arab-Cyprus relations

Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Aboul-Gheit stressed Thursday the importance of the “rooted relations” between Cyprus and the Arab world, and cooperation and coordination for regional and international issues.

This came during a visit of President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides to the Arab League in Cairo, a press statement stated.

The statement indicated that Cyprus is an important partner of the League in the European continent and the European Union, stressing that Cyprus plays a traditional role in support of peace, security and stability in the region.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on several regional and international issues, mainly the latest development in Al-Quds, Syria, Libya, the war in Ukraine, and the situation in the Middle East, the statement added.

President Christodoulides expressed his appreciation to the important role played by the League in the regional scene, and the keenness of his country to strengthen its relations with the Arab World, referring to the importance of the Arab-European relations and the need to enhance them at all levels.
