Blinken Heads To Israel And Jordan

The US State Department announced that Secretary Anthony Blinken will visit Israel and Jordan from October 11 to 13, where he will meet with senior officials.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement, “Blinken will express his condolences to the victims of the terrorist attacks against Israel and condemn those attacks in the strongest terms. He will also reaffirm the solidarity of the United States with the government and people of Israel. He will also discuss measures aimed at strengthening Israel’s security and emphasizing “The United States’ consistent support for Israel’s right to defend itself.”

For his part, Blinken wrote on the “X” platform on Tuesday evening: “I spoke with Israeli President Isaac Herzog today to reaffirm that the United States remains steadfast in its support for Israel and its right to defend itself.”

He added: “Tomorrow I will leave for Israel to engage in direct dialogue with our Israeli partners about the situation on the ground and discuss ways in which we can continue to support them in the war.

The visit of the US Secretary of State to the region comes as the war between the Israelis and the Palestinians entered its fifth day, after the Hamas movement fired thousands of rockets from the Gaza Strip and carried out specific operations that included storming several settlements in the Gaza Strip on Saturday as part of the “Tawafan Al-Aqsa ” operation, while Israel responded by launching Operation “Iron Swords” and launching violent air strikes on Gaza.
