Cabinet thanks Qatar for invitation for Kuwaiti student to World Cup

The Cabinet expressed, on behalf of the Kuwaiti government and people, profound appreciation of the kind invitation from Qatari Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for students of Balat Al-Shuhadaa School to attend a World Cup game.

The weekly Cabinet meeting, held at Al-Seif Palace under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, noted that the invitation materialized the brotherly relationship between Kuwait and Qatar.

The invitation also reflects the hospitality of sisterly Qatar and adds to the chronicle of achievements it has made in the neat organization of the global event, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Barrak Ali Al-Shitan told reporters after the meeting.

The invitation followed the video that went vital showing the Kuwaiti school students while celebrating the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Cabinet expressed sincere wishes for sisterly Qatar to achieve more successes in the future.

During the meeting, His Highness the Prime Minister apprised the Cabinet members of the outcomes of his talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani during the latter’s visit to Kuwait on Wednesday.

The talks dealt with the close ties between Kuwait and sisterly Iraq, regional and international issues of common concern, and ways for opening new horizons for cooperation in all areas.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet discussed National Assembly affairs and topics, saying that interpellation is a constitutional right, referring to the grilling move submitted by MP Hamdan Al-Azmi against Minister of Public Works, Water, Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Amani Bogammaz.

The Cabinet said it was briefed on the National Assembly’s letter included the grilling move offered on November 21 against the Minister that would be listed in the first next session’s agenda, in line with the Assembly’s Article 135.

The Cabinet stated that it reviewed the interpellation, affirming it full confidence in Boukamez and lauding her positive role.

It indicated that it listened to Bouqmaz’s responses to the interpellation and was reassured of the soundness of her position, stressing its keenness to support her to continue her efforts to serve the country and citizens.

Moreover, the Cabinet listened to the economic affairs committee’s recommendation on the 11th annual report on the Capital Markets Authority’s activities for the Fiscal Year 2021-2022.

It was also briefed on the committee’s recommendation on the 6-motnth report on recruiting at the Civil Service Commission (CSC) from 1 July 2021 until 31 December, 2021, regarding the notices observed at some bodies. The Cabinet tasked all ministries and bodies, in cooperation with the CSC, to avoid such notices. The ministers discussed the committee’s recommendation on the Direct Investment Promotion Authority request on transferring all competencies of the Ministry of Finance regarding the commercial plots of land to the authority.

The Cabinet instructed the Kuwait Municipality to take necessary measures on allocating commercial plots of land in all regions in favor for the authority.

Furthermore, the ministers dealt with the Governmental Performance Follow-up Agency’s recommendation on the visual presentation of draft of the government work for the 17th legislative term for 2022-2026 that shows the government’s serious orientation to activate social, economic and administrative reforms, in consensus with the National Assembly.

The aim of this is to contribute to pushing development achievement and lay a cornerstone for sustainable cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities in a way that embodies the real form of the constitutional texts and meets developmental aspirations of the State.

The current government action program was based on the contents of the speech of His Highness the Amir that was delivered by His Highness the Deputy Amir and the Crown Prince. The speech included the existing development plans for the State and the Kuwait Vision 2035, which contributes to strengthening it and working to achieve it.

The Cabinet decided to approve the 2022-2026 program action, and tasked Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and investment to refer the program to the National Assembly.

Ministers assigned the government performance follow-up agency, in coordination with government and regulatory bodies, to develop, within two months, solutions (legal, technical and procedural) to speed up development project contractual procedures across state bodies and reduce the documentary cycle for each.

The Council of Ministers also reviewed the committee?’s recommendation regarding the directives of His Highness the Prime Minister regarding reviewing the forms of contracts for the exploitation of all state property lands. The ministers assigned the government performance follow-up agency, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, State Property Administration, the Public Authority for Industry, the Public Authority for Public Affairs Agriculture and Fisheries and the Department of Fatwa and Legislation to supervise the follow-up for the use of state property land used for industrial, service-related, agricultural and other uses.

They were told to devise appropriate uses of these lands within three months in a manner that meets the country?’s current and future requirements related to investment, commercial and residential purposes and ensures maximizing state revenues.

The Cabinet was informed of efforts made to provide housing to citizens as soon as possible, resulting in the provision of 1,900 housing units in Taima, 35,000 housing units in south of Sabah Al-Ahmad and Sulaibiya square with South Kairouan of 3,200 housing units.

Political affairs, in light of the latest current developments on the Arab and international spectrums, were also discussed.

The Cabinet expressed Kuwait’s sympathy and solidarity with Indonesia, following the earthquake on the island of Java, which killed and wounded hundreds of people and its sincere condolences the country’s leadership, government, people, and families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery
