Clashes continue in Sudan despite humanitarian truce

Clashes are ongoing in Sudan’s capital in spite of a humanitarian truce reached between the military and Rapid Support Forces hours ago on Tuesday as they blame each other for breaking the agreement.

The situation amid the 24-hour truce, struck at 6:00pm local time, is “stable,” the military said in a statement, but the RSF is “not committed to the truce and have not stopped their clashes in the circumference of the (military) command and airport.” The RSF, in turn, said two of its units were attacked on seperate occassions since the deal entered into force.

Violent clashes continued for the fourth day in a row in the capital, Khartoum, the town of Merowe in the north and Darfur in the west.

Dozens have been killed and injured in the fighting after talks aimed at forming a new government failed.
