Commission Of Integrity: The Former Director Of State Real Estate Severely Imprisoned

The Commission’s Investigation Department announced the issuance of a verdict convicting the former director of state real estate, and sentencing him in presence to severe imprisonment for a period of two years.

Speaking about the case that it investigated and referred to the judiciary, the commission said that the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court issued a two-year prison sentence in the presence against the Director General of the State Real Estate Department in the former Ministry of Finance, indicating that the decision came on the background of the convict’s actions when he was in office in 2019, violating his duties and obstructing the implementation of an investment license granted to an investor.

It added that the convict submitted a report to the Minister of Finance that contained incorrect information, intending to cancel the investment license, harming the interest of the first investor for the benefit of another investor at the expense of the state, claiming that the official approvals were not received by his department and that they were not notified of completing the investment procedures.

The department stated that the court, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the case, represented by the defendant’s explicit confession before the court, the statements of the legal representative of the State Real Estate Department, the decision of the investigative committee, as well as the statements of one of the witnesses, found it sufficient and convincing for the conviction, so it issued its decision, based on the provisions of Article (331) of the Penal Code.

According to the statement, the court decided to grant the right to the aggrieved party the right to claim compensation before the civil courts, after the judgment became final, pointing out that the judgment was issued by agreement, based on the provisions of Article (182/a).
