Culture Ministry receives today 6000 antiquities that Britain had borrowed for the purpose of study

The Ministry of Culture announced the process of receiving 6,000 artifacts belonging to the Sumerian civilization that Britain had borrowed for the purpose of study since 1923.

The Ministry of Culture said in a statement, “With full care by the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, and the continuous follow-up of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, and the Iraqi Ambassador to London, Jaafar Al-Sadr, the process of receiving 6,000 artifacts belonging to the Sumerian civilization was carried out in Britain.” It had borrowed them for study purposes since 1923.

It added, “they will be returned to their first cradle on board a special presidential plane arriving at Baghdad International Airport this evening, where large reception ceremonies will be held in the presence of the media to cover the important event.”
