Egypt pres. underlines presidential, parliamentary elections in Libya

Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi on Thursday reiterated his country’s support for the political approach in Libya, calling for holding presidential and parliamentary elections.

Al-Sisi made the remark while meeting with visiting Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, stressing that all foreign forces and mercenaries should be pulled out of Libyan territories, Presidential Spokesman Ahmad Fahmi said in a press statement.

The Egyptian president also underlined that it is essential for Libya to regain its sovereignty, territorial integrity and stability, the spokesman added.

During the meeting, they discussed ways of promoting bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest, including the world impacts of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the latest Libyan developments, he added.

For his part, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reaffirmed his country’s eagerness to keep promoting relations with Egypt and widening them to new horizons at various levels, especially in the light of Egypt’s key role in addressing regional crises and challenges.

He voiced thanks and appreciation to Egypt for dispatching aid to Greece in its efforts to set out its wildfires.
