Etidal and Telegram Remove Over 16 Million Extremist Content in Q1 of 2024


Riyadh: The Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) and Telegram continued their successful collaboration for the third year in a row, closing 445 extremist channels and removing 16,496,615 extremist content linked to three terrorist organizations, ISIS, Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, and Al-Qaeda, in the first quarter of 2024.

Removed ISIS content was the highest: 11,634,102 pieces and 187 channels closed.

Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham had 3,227,272 pieces removed and 186 channels closed, while Al-Qaeda had 1,635,241 pieces removed and 72 channels closed.

Since their collaboration started, in February 2022, Etidal and Telegram have removed a staggering 75,388,319 items of extremist content and closed 13,533 channels used to spread such propaganda.
