BRUSSELS, European Union leaders Thursday agreed to grant EU candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova. President of the European Council, Charles Michel. tweeted this evening.

“A historic moment. Today marks a crucial step on your path towards the EU,” he said.

The leaders of the 27 member EU are holding a 2-day summit in Brussels Thursday and Friday with the war on Ukraine at the focus of the meeting.
