Future of Robotics in Bulgaria is Bright, If We Discover on Time What Children Find Interesting, Expert Says

Bulgaria’s children are extremely talented, they just need to be steered into programming and robotics at a younger age. I think the future of robotics in Bulgaria is quite bright, as long as we discover on time what the child is interested in. If we do this earlier, the good things in Bulgaria will multiply, Borislav Rusinov, one of the founders of Robotika Academy, said in an interview with Bulgarian News Agency on the occasion of the upcoming Children’s Day.

Children do not fear robots, for 95% of them these machines are something like characters, and when they find out that they can also program them, their interest is even more intense, because they see that what they have constructed with their hands then comes to life, Rusinov said.

In reality, robots are not something scary because it is us – humans who make them. That’s what we teach children, robots will not replace us, they will help us, noted the co-founder of Robotika Academy.

Robotika Academy creates learning materials and organizes courses that develop logical thinking and technological education for pupils between the first and twelfth grades. The academy teaches programming and robotics in an understandable way, linking the material to different scientific fields.

Rusinov recalled how the idea for the Academy came about in 2015-2016. The academy started with 60 children and today it has about 1,100-1,200 children and works with many schools in the country.

On June 29, 2023, Sofia Tech Park will once again host the Hello, Space! Bulgaria Calling! youth science one-day festival, organized in partnership between the Robotika Academy, the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, NASA and many other organizations, where Bulgarian children can ask the astronauts of the International Space Station their questions and get their answers live.
