RIYADH, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf has received an invitation from Iraq to partake in Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership due in the end of this month.

The GCC Secretariat General said in a statement on Thursday that the invitation from Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein was relayed to the secretary general by the Iraqi Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dr. Abdulsattar Al-Janabi, during a meeting between the two sides.

The statement quoted Al-Hajraf as affirming the GCC keenness on stability and security of Iraq and support for the country’s reconstruction and fighting terrorism.

Al-Hajraf and Al-Janabi discussed cooperation, means of cementing relations and implementation of a previously inked joint action plan.

The GCC, established in early 80s, comprises Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar.
