Germany intends to supply Ukraine with military equipment worth 2.7 billion euros

According to Der Spiegel magazine, Germany intends to send another large batch of military equipment to Ukraine, estimated at 2.7 billion euros.

According to the magazine, the delivery will take place “in the coming weeks and months, as it is planned to send an additional 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 30 Leopard 1 tanks, 200 reconnaissance drones, logistics vehicles, IRIS-T air defense systems, in addition to ammunition, to Kiev.

The magazine suggested that the new aid package would be announced on Sunday, in parallel with the awarding of the Charlemagne Prize by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Aachen, when he is likely to come to Germany.

In the first quarter of 2023, the German government approved the supply of military goods to Ukraine for a total amount of approximately 497 million euros.

The German Cabinet approved the delivery of 178 Leopard 1A5 tanks to Kiev. Germany also decided to provide Kiev with four other pieces of equipment from the German armed forces’ stocks.
