Health Ministry announces the results of Kambash’s autopsy

The Ministry of Health announced the results of the autopsy of the ex-convicted fugitive head of the Sunni Endowment Office, Saad Kambash, and the reasons for his death.

The Ministry stated, in a statement, that “the primary forensic medicine report usually refers to the apparent examination of the initial observations, and then is followed by an anatomy of the cavity and organs of the body, according to the applicable technical contexts.”

It added, “The clinical autopsy showed the presence of an old myocardial infarction (clot) with hardening of the heart arteries, and a piece of tissue was taken from the heart and sent for histological examination to investigate the presence of any new angina or heart attack.”

It continued, “The autopsy showed the presence of edema (fluid accumulation) in the lungs,” noting that “a forensic autopsy of the head was performed, and no traces of brain hemorrhage or skull fracture were found.”

With regard to the surface observations, it showed: “The apparent surface abrasions are a result of the transfer of the corpse and the procedures of the medical and nursing staff in the emergency hall, as cardiopulmonary resuscitation is performed, artificial respiration is performed, and pressure on the chest area is performed for any case of arrival of a recently deceased person to the hospital and within the period specified time according to the approved guidelines in such cases.

It also indicated that “the initial forensic medical report concludes the presence of a heart attack (stroke) and the presence of hardening of the heart arteries with edema in the lungs. Samples were taken from the bowels of the body and sent for histological analysis. Other samples were taken from the body for toxicology examination in the specialized laboratories in the forensic medicine department in Baghdad, according to the applicable contexts and controls.
