His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the Cabinet session held at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.
HRH the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on the contents of the discussions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques with King of Eswatini, President of the Republic of Rwanda, and Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. The discussions mainly focused on the various aspects of bilateral relations across various fields.
In remarks to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef bin Ali Al-Dosari said that the Cabinet underscored the importance of bolstering economic and investment connections with diverse nations globally in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which brings unparalleled prospects in fields of mutual benefit.
In the same context, the Cabinet commended the achievements yielded from the visits made by the Kingdom’s joint public and private sector delegation to various Latin American countries, where various memoranda of understanding were signed to expand the scope of collaborative efforts.
The Cabinet highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the global community across the all fields. This commitment was reinforced during the 2nd Anti-Corruption Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Twenty (G20), convened in the Republic of India. The “Riyadh Initiative for Enhancing International Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation”, which achieved substantial milestones within its respective jurisdictions, was discussed at the meeting. Notably, over 161 anti-corruption agencies from 90 countries have become part of the resultant Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network).
The Cabinet also praised the outcomes of the international conference hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and titled “Communication with the Departments of Religious Affairs, Ifta, and Sheikhdoms in the World.”
The conference aligns with the Kingdom’s dedication to serving Islam and the Muslim community and its proactive involvement in strengthening unity and collaboration among Islamic countries. The overarching objective is to combat radical ideologies and enhance the values of tolerance and harmonious coexistence among diverse populations. The Kingdom reaffirmed its esteemed mission to propagate the principles of moderation and tolerance.
The minister elaborated that the Cabinet followed up on the latest updates in regional developments and political changes in the global arena. He added that the Cabinet hailed the endeavors of the United Nations and the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, which have successfully managed the operation to unload crude oil from the floating “Safer” tanker positioned off the Yemeni port of Hodeidah in the Red Sea. Consequently, this pre-empted a possible environmental catastrophe and eliminated a hazard that posed a threat to maritime safety and the global economy.
Concerning local affairs, the Cabinet emphasized, as the new academic year draws near, the Kingdom’s dedication and consistent attention to the education sector, which have played a pivotal role in boosting intellectual growth and skill development, while also fostering fields of research and innovation, to equip individuals to excel on the global stage.
Care for education is consistent with care for all other sectors in the Kingdom, and has yielded achievements across every aspect of the economic and social landscape.
The Cabinet was also briefed on several issues on its agenda and issued the following decisions:
First: Authorizing the minister of energy, or a deputy, to hold talks with the Argentine side on a draft memorandum of understanding between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Argentine Republic for cooperation in the fields of energy.
Second: Approving a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the cultural field between the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Culture of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Third: Authorizing the minister of culture, or a deputy, to hold talks with the Panamanian side on a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the cultural field between the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Panama.
Fourth: Authorizing the minister of Islamic Affairs, Call, and Guidance, or a deputy, to hold talks with the Belarusian side on a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of Islamic affairs between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Commission for Religious and Ethnic Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.
Fifth: Authorizing the Minister of Justice, or a deputy, to discuss with counterpart agencies from other countries a draft cooperation agreement on judicial cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries and authorizing the Minister to discuss with counterpart bodies from other countries a draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Justice in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the counterpart agency from other countries.
Sixth: Authorizing the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, or a deputy, to discuss with the Japanese side a draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Digital Agency of Japan on cooperation in the fields of information technology, communications, and digital economy.
Seventh: Authorizing the Minister of Economy and Planning, or a deputy, to discuss with the Bahraini side a draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Economy and Planning in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Finance and National Economy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of economy and planning.
Eighth: Approving a memorandum of understanding to launch the Arab Translation Observatory between the Ministry of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).
Ninth: Approving a cooperation agreement in combating terrorism and the financing of terrorism crimes between the Presidency of State Security in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Strategic Security Agency of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Tenth: Approving the establishment of an authority under the name of the (Insurance Authority), as mentioned in the decision.
Eleventh: Approving the establishment of an institute under the name of the (National Institute for Health Research), as per the provisions of the decision.
Twelfth: Amending Article 5 of the regulatory bylaw of King Salman Park, issued under the Cabinet decision No. (426), dated 24/6/1441, related to the board of directors of the corporation, to read as the text mentioned in the decision.
Thirteenth: Appointing Dr. Tareef bin Yousef Al-Aama, Dr. Shabab bin Saad Al-Ghamdi, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Saad Al-Qahtani, Eng. Yasser bin Abdulrahman Al-Dheem, Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Eiban, and Riyad bin Ali Al-Ghamdi as members board of directors of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority and renewing the membership of Dr. Badr bin Saqr Al-Otaibi in the board of directors.
Fourteenth: Appointing Dr. Saleh bin Sadiq Farsi, and Sultan bin Salman Al-Marwani and renewing the membership of Kamal bin Abdulhameed Al-Jahni in the board of directors of the Saudi Accreditation Center (SAC) from the private sector.
Fifteenth: Approving the closing statements of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, the Saudi Center for Economic Business, and the Decision Support Center for the two previous fiscal years.
Sixteenth: Approving promotions at the 14th and 15th ranks.
