Info. Min. underscores need of media keeping abreast of developments

KUWAIT, March 15 (KUNA) — Kuwait’s Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi asserted the necessity of preparing media outlets to have a more active role corresponding to developments of current scene.

This came in Minister Al-Mutairi’s speech at the 16th session of the Executive Office of Arab Information Ministers Council hosted by Kuwait on Wednesday.

The Minister conveyed the greeting of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and their wishes that the meeting culminates in fruitful results for Arab world.

On the current media scene, the information minister commented that the subsequent changes pressed officials to review performances and abilities to adapt to such changes.

For example, illustrated Al-Mutairi, social media platforms due to their accessible nature have climbed to become the number one media outlet, with all that they contain of advantages and disadvantages.

Al-Mutairi also noted bolstering role of youth in Arab media scene.

The Minister further asserted the firm Kuwaiti media stance on Palestinian case, saying it will remain supportive of all its political, economic and humanitarian dimensions.

The meeting comes at a time of various regional and international events, beginning with coronavirus pandemic to the Russia-Ukraine situation and the destructive quakes in Turkiye and Syria, explained Al-Mutairi.

He commended the meeting and its vital role in bolstering joint Arab media work, and utilizing constructive media in light of challenges. He also called for more collaboration, hoping that it would culminate in positive outcomes. (end) dd.amh.aai
