Integrity Commission: The arrest of the main suspect in the land tampering case in Anbar

The Integrity Commission announced the arrest of the main suspect in the case of tampering and possessing thousands of lands in Anbar.

The department stated, in its discussion of the details of the arrest that took place on the basis of a judicial warrant, that the Commission’s Investigation Directorate in Baghdad had formed a team; to investigate the information it received about the whereabouts of the most prominent defendants in the case of ownership of plots of land in Al-Wafa district, after which the director of real estate registration in Al-Anbar Governorate was overthrown, and to investigate approximately seventy thousand real estate files that were owned in violation of the law.

It added that the team began the work of investigation, and after confirming the validity of the information, it followed the movement of the accused, who was holding the position of Director of the municipality of Al-Wafa district in Anbar, and ambushed him tightly, and after direct coordination with the law enforcement force, he was overthrown, and the arrest warrant issued against him was executed by the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court, in Adila’s house in Al-Bunook neighborhood in the capital, Baghdad.

The accused was accompanied by the fundamental reporter, in the process that took place in accordance with the provisions of Article (289/298) of the Iraqi Penal Code, to the competent investigating judge, who decided to arrest him pending investigation.

The Commission had announced on the fourth of last April that it had been able to carry out a major operation in Anbar Governorate, which resulted in the arrest of the Anbar Real Estate Director and (5) of its officials; for their willingness to manipulate and forge the documents of ownership of tens of thousands of lands in Al-Wafa district, and on the background of their confessions, other arrest and summons orders were issued.
