Iran announces its Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Monday, the appointment of Ali Reza Enayati, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Iranian media reported: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appointed the Director General of the Gulf Region at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ali Reza Enayati, as the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

In May 2014, Enayati was appointed in charge of the Iranian Embassy in Kuwait, while he was appointed, at the beginning of 2019, as Director General of the Gulf Region at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Last March, Riyadh and Tehran announced their agreement to resume diplomatic relations after years of estrangement.

The agreement between the two countries was mediated by China, which played an important role in completing it, and was one of the signatories of the joint statement of the two countries.
