An Italian civil society group on Tuesday mourned the death of a local politician it said was as an “avid” supporter of Kuwait, saying his contributions towards improving bilateral ties would stand the test of time.

“We have lost a genuine friend of Kuwait and a prolific politician, “the Italian-Kuwaiti Friendship Society said in reference to Francesco Pozzi, a former Italian deputy defense minister, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 76.

A former lawmaker for more than two decades, Pozzi helped Rome “reach out” to its international allies, the group’s chief Pierre-Andre Fanni said. (
