Japan are AFC Asian Futsal Cup champions following a 3-2 victory against Iran for this year’s tournament hosted by Kuwait at the Saad Al-Abdullah Hall on Saturday.
Iran’s Saeid Ahmad Abbasi opened the score 15 minutes into the match, to be shortly leveled by Shimizu Kazuya a minute later.
A stunning free-kick by Oliveira put Japan in the lead early in the second half (27th minute) pressuring the Iranians to fight for the title.
Valid pressure by the Iranians commenced until the closing minute, up to Hirata Massanori’s goal leading Japan with a two goal difference with 30 seconds till the final whistle.
With seconds left, Alireza Javan Shahkhali managed to situate the score at 3-2, but just wasn’t enough to halt the Samurai team from obtaining their 4th AFC Asian Futsal Cup.
