KFAED inks deal with UNDP to provide electric energy in Yemen

KUWAIT, Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) announced Wednesday inking a deal with the United Nations Development Program aiming to support a project supplying renewable electric energy for medical centers in Yemen, and is valued at KD 750,000 (approx. USD 2.5 Million).

In a press release, KAFED illustrated that the project means to ease impact of recurring blackouts in medical centers across the country. This is done via installing extremely small grids that produce electricity powered by solar energy in order to enable continuous urgent medical aid in the event of a blackout. KFAED indicated that this projects comes under framework of Kuwait?’s pledge of supporting humanitarian situation in Yemen, announced in conference held in March of last year.

Signing deal on behalf of KFAED is chairman Marwa Al-Ghanim, and representing the UN is assistant general secretary and head of Arab regional office Khaleda Bouzar. (end) skm.aai
