The King Saud University ranked 101 in the world and first in Saudi Arabia and the Arab world in the 2023 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
Released annually by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, ARWU ranks around 2,000 universities worldwide and publishes the top 1,000. Its ranking is based on four criteria: quality of education, quality of faculty, research output, and per capita academic performance.
