Riyadh: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has inked a cooperation agreement with the World Food Programme (WFP) aimed at providing food assistance to those impacted in the Gaza Strip. Advisor at the Royal Court and General Supervisor of KSrelief Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah and the Executive Director of WFP, Cindy McCain, remotely signed the agreement today.

Under this pact, food aid will be delivered via ready-made food supplies distribution to address a portion of the needs of beneficiaries in the Gaza Strip. The aid is set to benefit 377,855 displaced Palestinian individuals, with a total value of $5 million.

The Kingdom’s leadership has directed the initiation of a grassroots campaign through the ‘SAHEM’ platform to extend relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, an airlift has been activated, with 44 relief planes transporting medical supplies, food, and shelter materials weighing more than 829 tons, including 20 ambulances equipped with esse
ntial medical gear.

Moreover, a sea bridge has been established, with six relief ships having arrived thus far, carrying medical, shelter, and food supplies weighing 4,966 tons. This brings the combined total of the air and sea bridges to more than 5,795 tons.

The Center has also entered into four cooperation agreements with UNRWA, WHO, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and WFP to deliver relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, amounting to SAR150 million. Additionally, a memorandum has been signed with UNRWA, providing financial support worth $40 million to bolster the UNRWA emergency appeal in the Gaza Strip.

These endeavors represent an extension of the humanitarian initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom, as represented by the Center, to stand in solidarity with the displaced Palestinian people and foster food security in the Gaza Strip, in collaboration with specialized United Nations agencies.
