Kuwait Airways: KD 5 mln profits in September

– Kuwait Airways made approximately KD five million (USD 16.5 mln) profits in September compared with KD 10 mln (USD 33 mln) losses same month of 2019, Kuwait Airways Chairman Ali Al-Dukhan announced on Tuesday.

Speaking at a news conference, he added that the company faced hitches, namely pausing flights for several months, during peak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Elaborating, he said that Kuwait Airways, during gradual re-operation of Kuwait International Airport, took 30 percent of the operations, resulting in limiting flights and raising fees of tickets to cover up for the huge loss during the pandemic hard times.

Al-Dukhan also affirmed that Kuwait Airways was one of a few companies that did not get any international financial support during the coronavirus crisis peak. KAC will receive an Airbus (A330-800) plane in December and another one in 2022. Moreover, it will take delivery of two more aircraft (A320neo) during the next year.

Al-Dukhan expected positive results during October, a forecast that would signal that the corporation would be on the right path for attaining the board objectives and would reach budget’s balance point.
