Kuwait Blind Association celebrates World White Cane Day

Kuwait Blind Association (KBA) organized a march on Saturday to mark the World White Cane Day in synchronization with the golden jubilee of the association.

The procession aims to raise public awareness about the safety of blind people who depend on their white canes for safe movement, head of KBA public relations committee Fahad Al-Enezi told KUNA on the sidelines of the event.

He highlighted the need to remove all obstacles facing the free movement of blind people to reflect their powers of endurance and the bright aspect of the civilized society.

“KBA plans to organize more events to shed light on the role of its members in the society and express their aspirations,” Al-Anzi noted.

He voiced gratitude for the support provided to the KBA activities by government and non-government organizations, notably the ministries of Social Affairs and Education, and the Public Authority for Disability Affairs.

Launched on October 8, 1972, KBA provides social and cultural support to the blind people, helps raise public awareness about their needs, and works with regional and international organizations with similar objectives.
