Kuwait calls on UNESCO to fulfill role towards Sudanese, Palestinian educational institutes

Kuwait on Monday called on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to make all efforts to ensure the implementation of the organization’s decisions and commitments towards educational and cultural institutions in Palestine and Sudan.

This came in a speech by Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Ambassador Dr. Adam Al-Mulla, in the 216th session of the Executive Council held at the UNESCO headquarters in the French capital, Paris.

Al-Mulla called on the Director General and the concerned sectors of the General Secretariat to play their role towards the educational and cultural institutions in Palestine and the occupied Arab territories.

“As we see what happened days before the demolition of schools in occupied Palestine, and we look forward to taking concrete steps by the organization towards the issue,” said Al-Mulla.

He also called on the organization to provide assistance and mitigate the negative effects that educational and cultural institutions in Sudan may suffer from due to the situation they are experiencing at the present time.

Al-Mulla expressed his hope that a draft decision in this regard will be prepared in the next session of the Executive Council.
