Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister (DM) Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah received Friday a telephone call from his American counterpart Lloyd Austin, and shared views on several issues of common concern.

During the call, the two sides discussed the latest developments on international and regional arenas, and means of promoting cooperation and work between the two friendly countries, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Austin congratulated Sheikh Talal on the new post and the holy month of Ramadan, which falls Saturday, it added.

He also expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its humanitarian and medical aid provided to Ukrainian refugees fleeing the Russian military operation, the statement pointed out.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Talal thanked Austin for the call that shows the deep-rooted ties between the two friendly countries.

In addition, Sheikh Talal stressed Kuwait’s keenness on, and interest in, translating the political leadership’s directives that support all US humanitarian efforts and agencies to alleviate the sufferings of the refugees, according to the statement
