Kuwait expands COVID vaccine booster eligibility to 16-year olds

— Everyone in Kuwait aged 16 years and above is now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot, the health ministry said on Wednesday, describing the move as a prevention measure aiming to protect public health.

The country’s vaccination center at Mishref International Fair Grounds is offering the boosters without an appointment, ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said in a statement, adding that those wishing to get the shot at other designated facilities should set up an appointment on the ministry’s website. Kuwait said earlier this week that a COVID-19 vaccine booster would be compulsory for incoming travelers, in addition to a prerequisite for outbound travel in a bid to halt the spread of the Omicron variant.
