Kuwait Foreign Minister meets ICRC chief

On the sideline of UN-led donor conference in Geneva to help the humanitarian situation in Yemen, Kuwait Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met on Monday with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mirjana Spoljaric.

During the meeting, aspects of cooperation between the State of Kuwait and the International Committee of the Red Cross were reviewed.

During the meeting, the Minister praised the role ICRC and its noble humanitarian efforts, especially with regard to the tragic catastrophe of the devastating earthquake that struck the regions of southern Turkey and northern Syria, appreciating the relentless efforts made by ICRC towards the delivery of various humanitarian, medical and relief aid to those in need.

The meeting also discussed frameworks for supporting joint coordination and existing cooperation in humanitarian fields to serve the goals and objectives of humanitarian work and to support afflicted and affected peoples.

In turn, the President of ICRC expressed her deep appreciation and gratitude for the distinguished humanitarian role played by the State of Kuwait in supporting the afflicted and affected peoples, indicating that these great efforts made by Kuwait have added to the distinguished position to Kuwait on the humanitarian level, regionally and internationally.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, including the humanitarian crisis experienced by the Yemeni and Syrian peoples, and the repercussions of the crisis in Ukraine.
