Kuwait hopes Arab council resolutions will enhance joint economic action

The State of Kuwait on Thursday expressed hope that resolutions issued by the freshly concluded meeting of the Arab Economic and Social Council would contribute to boosting joint Arab action at the social and economic levels.

This came in a statement by the acting assistant finance minister, Talal Al-Nimsh, to KUNA after end of the council 110th session.

He noted necessity of preparing for the socio-economic file that would be presented at the 31st session of the Arab summit, adding that conferees examined recommendations that were approved as resolutions.

Among these resolutions was a report by the Arab League Secretary General on implementation of the 109th council session, social and economic activities by the secretariat general between the 109th and 110th sessions and measures that had been taken to implement the council resolutions in this respect Moreover, they discussed preparations of the Arab League social-economic file, a report regarding implementation of the fourth Arab economic summit held in Lebanon in January 2019 and preparations for the fifth summit to be held at this level.

Al-Nimsh indicated that the participants in the meeting also discussed issues concerning the great Arab trade zone, the Arab Customs Union, investments in the Arab states and aid program for boosting inter-Arab trade.

The State of Kuwait had taken part in the council meeting with a delegation headed by Al-Nimsh and included officials from the ministries of finance, commerce and industry
