The crescent of the Islamic Hijri month of Shawwal was sighted on Thursday, marking the advent of the Eid Al-Fitr festival and the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Kuwait’s moon sighting committee said.

The committee met on the evening of 29 Ramadan for the Hijri year 1444, and “the crescent was proven to be sighted on this night,” Acting Supreme Justice and head of the moon sighting committee Chief Justice Adel Bouresli said.

He congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwaiti nationals and residents alongside Arab and Islamic nations on the occassion.

Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Amer Al-Ratam expressed similar sentiments.
