Kuwait Olympic Cmte: Third GCC Games open next May 22

Chairman of the Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah announced that the third Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Games would be hosted by Kuwait with the participation of all GCC countries, with May 22 as the date for the opening ceremony while the official closing will be on the 31st.

Sheikh Fahad Nasser, who is the deputy head of the organizing committee, said in a press statement Sunday that this sports competitions will include the establishment of 16 different sports, which are handball, volleyball, basketball, futsal, swimming, athletics, karate, judo, fencing, archery, tennis, bicycling, ice hockey, table tennis, padel and e-sports.

The tournament competitions will start from next May 13 with group games matches as it takes more time to set up than individual games, he stated, considering that this is an opportunity to highlight Gulf talents in these games.

The tournament will witness for the first time the participation of the females in games of futsal, bicycling, athletics, table tennis, basketball and electronic games, he added.

He expressed happiness for the establishment of this tournament gathering on the soil of Kuwait
