Kuwait parliament scheduled session begins

Kuwait National Assembly Speaker Ahmad Al-Saadoun inaugurated Tuesday’s scheduled session to discuss the Amiri speech delivered at the inauguration of the parliament’s latest legislative term and requests to lift immunity of MPs Obaid Al-Mutairi and Hamed Al-Bathali.

The session begins with approving some reports and examining complaints, proceeds with examining the topic of stripping Al-Mutairi and Al-Bathali of their parliamentary immunity. Then, the legislators will examine the Amiri Speech that had marked the parliament first session of the 17th legislative term, in addition to looking into the item of electing members of the Arab Parliament and completing the appointment of committees’ members.

The lawmakers will be discussing requests to form committees to investigate distribution of industrial lots, food insecurity and obstacles facing local agricultural products and retirees’ pensions.

They will also debate reports about final statements of government departments for fiscal years 2011-16 and 2018-20, in addition to replacing the word maid with domestic worker.

The house will then discuss a request to the Constitutional Court to clarify Articles 87, 90, 104 and 106 of the Constitution.
